Leveling up Archeology

Introduction

Archeology like Biology boasts the most amount of discoveries in the game world of UWO. Unlike Biology, Archeology quests are more fun and more epic. They really do capture the essence of Adventure, as would-be explorers traverse across world and into the depth of Tombs and Dungeons to recover lost relics.

Archeology players will never find themselves short of Adventure, as their journeys take them into a world of history, intrigue, and danger.

-Favoured Professions
Archeologist
Historian
Treasure Hunter
Excavator
Explorer

Level 1 - 2 (Read Archeology Books inside the Archives; Various level 1 Archeology Quests)

The first few levels of Archeology shouldn't be that hard to level up. The fastest way is probably to do a couple of level 1 Acheology quests around Genoa/Naples area, which involve digging up Artifacts belonging to various Roman Emperors.
Another way is to spend some Ducats flicking through Archeology Books inside the Archive of major towns. Usually each time you read a book, it will increase your skill proficiency by 1 - 3. You will also find Archeology Maps, which can be dug up for additional increases in skill proficiency.

Level 2 - 4 (Advanced School Quest)

The best way of leveling Archeology from level 2 to level 4 is to fleet up with other players and run the Advanced School pre-graduation Quests. The Quest requires level 2 in Archeology and asks players to travel to Tunis, which is only a couple of days sailing south of where the Advanced School Quests originate in Pisa.
In order to graduate from Advanced School in Adventure, you have to run that particular quest to Tunis 10 times, which gives ample time for you to level up from level 2 in Archeology to level 4.
The best thing about being in a fleet for Adventure Quests is that your skill proficiency would raise at 2 or 3 times faster than if you were soloing.
(For more details refer to my guide on Adventure Skill Proficiency bonus and fleets)

Level 4 (Athens The Existence of Sultans >>> Beirut >>> Alexandria; Alexandria Mourning Tragedy >>> Athens)

At level 4 in Archeology it is time to move to the Archeological paridise of the Middle East. The reason is that there are a lot of Archeology quests here which can level you way up to level 10 in Archeology.
There are two quests here which you run back to back. The first quest is recieved from Athens called The Existence of Sultans (reqs. R1 Search; R3 Treasure Appraisal; R1 Lockpicking).
The first quest takes you to Beirut, and from Beirut, travel to Alexandria to turn the quest in through the Barmaid.
In Alexandria, you can take a quest called Mourning Tragedy (reqs. R2 Search; R4 Archeology; 2000 Adv Fame).
The quest Mourning Tragedy will take you back to Athens, and therefore completing a single loop.
In Athens you can start the loop again by taking the quest The Existence of Sultans to Beirut.

Level 5 - 8 (Athens Masters of 7 Wonders >>> Alexandria >>> Central Nile Landing Area >>> Alexandria; Alexandria Stolen Inscriptions >>> Cairo >>> Alexandria; Alexandria Mourning Tragedy >>> Athens)

Now that you have gotten the hang of a quest loop (repeating a set of 2 quests). Its time to add a third quest to the loop.
This time instead of taking the quest The Existence of Sultans from Athens, take the quest Masters of 7 Wonders (reqs. R3 Search; R5 Acheology; R3 Lockpicking) The reason is that this quest allows you to level up your Archeology.
Masters of 7 Wonders will take you to Alexandria, and then to the Landing area in Central Nile.
After you complete the quest return to [/COLOR="green"]Alexandria[/COLOR] to hand in and take the quest Stolen Inscriptions (reqs. R3 Search; R5 Archeology). The quest is only a short distance away in Cairo. When the quest is finished, return to Alexandria and take the quest Mourning Tragedy and head back to Athens.

Level 8 - 9 (Athens Pioneering Achievements >>> Salonica >>> [COLOR=green"]Athens[/COLOR]; Athens Delivering Pickles)

In order to gain access to the quest Pioneering Achievements (reqs. R6 Search; R8 Archeology; R6 Lockpicking) in Athens, you will first need to complete a prerequisite quest called End of Dreams (reqs. R5 Recognition; R7 Archeology; 9000 Adv Fame).
The prerequisite quest can be obtained from either Marseille or Genoa
Once the prerequisite quest of End of Dreams is complete, you can start on the Pioneering Achievements quest loop.
The quest Pioneering Achievements will take you to Salonica just north of Athens.
In Salonica, buy 5 Pickles. After you complete Pioneering Achievements, return to Athens, but before you can take the same quest again, you have to go and finish another quest.
The easiest in-between quest is the quest Delivering Pickles obtained from the Merchant's Guild in Athens.
Pickles of course can be conveniently bought from Salonica

Level 9+ (Marseille, Istanbul R9 Archeology Map - Map of Underground Passage >>> Landing Area west of Cairo)

Usually, you can stop leveling up Archeology at level 9. The reason being that the highest Archeology discovery (The Excailbur) requires level 15 in Archeology and it is possible to add +6 in Archeology through Skill Boost Items (for more details refer to my guide on Booster Items), therefore making level 9(+6) in Archeology sufficient.
For those players who do not wish to fill their inventory with Skill Boost Items, the quickest way to level up from level 9 to level 15 is using the R9 Archeology Map.
This map can be obtained from the Archives in either Marseille or Istanbul, and the Map is called Map of Underground Passage.
The location of where the Map can be dug up is on the west bank opposite of Cairo. (for more details on leveling up skills through Maps, refer to my guide of Treasure Maps).

Level 15

Congratulations!!!. You have become the master Archeologist of our time. Not only can you now go and discover the legendary Sword of Excalibur, you can also go and trackdown some of UWO most prized artifacts like Tutankhamun's Gold Mask and Keys of the Legendary King Solomon.
The world has become your private dig site.

Leveling up Art

Introduction

Art may not offer much in terms of Discoveries compared to the likes of Archeology or Biology, but it does have one huge advantage over other 6 major Discourses, that is Art Maps are the most efficient and effective way of leveling up your Adventure level.

On my old server, an entire economy was built around one single Art Map (R8 Map of Religious Painting) as players looking to fast track their levels in Adventure converged in the town of Naples to purchase R8 Art Maps off other players for around 300k per map.

Art is also unique in that the fastest way to level up relies entirely on Maps obtained from Archives (for more details on Map reading and Map openeing, refer to my guide).

Level 1 (Marseille, R1 Map of Religious Painting >>> Genoa)
There are numerous +1/+2 Art amulets in the game, that it is very possible to skip this step all together. But for those starting out from level 1 in Art, the fastest way is to travel to Marseille, browse through the Art Books inside the Archive and stock up on an R1 Art Map called Map of Religious Painting.
The Map will ask you to search out for the painting in the church in Genoa.
The Map contains the Discovery Annunciation and once discovered, you can conveniently report it to the Noble living in the estate next to the church at Genoa.

Level 2 (Marseille, R2 Map of Religious Painting >>> Genoa)
This step is exactly the same as the step above, except this time, you are looking for the R2 Art Map. The location of the Discovery is still in Genoa, and the item discovered is Paradise Lost.

Level 3-5 (Naples, R3 Map of Marble Statues of Men >>> Syracuse)
At level 3, you can travel to Naples and browse the Archives for a R3 Art Map, Map of Marble Statues of Men.
The Map location is inside the church at Syracuse which is a short travel away from Naples.
Syracuse also has a Noble estate for you to report your Discovery.

Level 5-7 (Lisbon, London, R5 Map of the Ritual of the Church >>> Bordeaux)
If you are coming from Southern Europe, you can drop by Lisbon and browse the Archives for the R5 Art Map, Map of the Ritual of the Church, if you coming from North Europe, you can go to London and browse for the same Art Map.
The Archives in London will have a higher rate of the R5 Art Map popping than the Archives in Lisbon.
The location of the Map is inside the church in Bordeux, and the Discovery is the Ivory Tapernacle.
The location of the Noble you can report the discovery to is located opposite of the church.

Level 7 (Seville, R7 Map of Religious Painting >>> Genoa)
Level 7 is like revisiting when you first started. The Map location is inside the church in Genoa and you are reporting the to same Noble as you did when you were making Discoveries of level 1 Art Map.
The R7 Art Map can be obtained from Seville and is called Map of Religious Painting.
The Discovery made by that Map is called Annunciation and its painted by Da Vinci.

Level 8-15 (Venice, R8 Map of Religious Painting >>> Naples)
The infamous R8 Art Map. The Map is read in the Archives in Venice, and the discovery of Virgin and Child is made inside the church in Naples.
The Noble who you can report the Discovery to is located beside the church.
This R8 Map can level up your Art skill proficiency all the way up to level 15, it is also the fastest way to level up your Adventure and your Adventure Fame.
After doing a couple of rounds of this Map, you should notice your Adventure Level and Fame jump significantly.

Level 15
Congratualations!!! You have come a very long way. In all honesty there is no real need to level Art up to 15. The highest Art Discovery only requires level 14 in Art, and with a plethora of Art boosting items, you only need to reach level 9 in Art to complete the final Art Discovery with the help of Booster Items.
That said, now that you are a master of the finest works of art, its time to make those Legendary Discoveries.
The likes of Mona Lisa, The Last Supper and Venus awaits your discovery.

Portugal Solo Guide

Start As Adventure Learner
Having skills: Sail Handling, Survey, Search, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian

A School Student__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Go to Adventure Beginner School - Adventure Interim School,

change to Accountant to learn Accounting, Sociability, Caution, Investment, Sewing, Alcohol Trading ; then go to Merchant Beginner - Interim School; should try trade alcohol and chicken feathers to Arguin and get to Merchant Level 10.

change to Brigand to learn Steering, Swordplay, Plunder; then go to Maritime Beginner - Interim School. Expected Level 10/10/7

An Developing Adventurer__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Now, change to Helmsperson to learn Geography, Recognition and then do team Geo quest, accumulate 2000 fame and 600K fund. Learn Archaeology, Treasure Appraisal, Theology, Art from various NPCs by the way. Estimated level 13/10/7 by the end. I am able to learn Body Language, delete Spainish, Italian and French if I don't have skill slots. Learn Arabic, Greek. Be ready to learn other languages if needed.

Then change to Escavator to learn Unlock do some adventure quest around to reach Archae R4 and Treasure R3. Take care of acquiring equipments from the map of ancient cloth (Art+1, Archae +2), the map of fantastic weapon(Archae+1, Sociability+1) and the skill enhancing accessories (Art+2 or Archae+1). Discovery all reachable cities around and report to right NPC.

Do circular quests like Sultans/Mourning or Seven Wonders/Mourning to practice Archaeology and Treasure Appraisal. The focus should be Archaeology and Unlock. Make sure my Archae reaches 5+4/6+3, Search reaches 5 and Unlock reaches 5 that make me an adventure expert.

Now I can choose to work on Art even if it is not the the favoured skill, I can reach Art 2+3/3+2 easily. Doing the map of Church Vessel in London is a good practice. I need partners to have multiple maps at once. It is a very good way to farm fame. Each map cost about 2 minutes in total and gives 67 fame. So it is possible to farm 2000 fame/hour.

Once my Art reaches 7, Unlock and Search reach 6 (with equipment) I can start doing the most fame rich business in this game that is the Religious Painting map in Lisbon Archives and found in the smaller church of Marseille and report to Labolei (not Vinci pls). Each costs 4 mins and gives 200 fame and 43K cash. My fame/money/Art level will sky-rocket for it. I need a fleet to do it of course. Now I am well above level 20 on adventure, hire an aide according to my interests. (I will hire a yarn dealer or an archaeologist personally)

A Melee Fighter__________________________________________________ ____________________________

With all these achievements, I now have a lot of choices. I just pick one:
Change to Mercenary, buy a Galley (16/3/0) or a Large Caravel (19/5/0) if I am not interested in Rowing. Learn First Aid, Assault, Repair. The reason not to use cannons is that there’s no good cannon available at the beginning. I think cannons worth using will come out 3 weeks after the server opening. For now, as my plan is just one week after the opening, melee is more efficient. It would be good if I can get these equipments before starting maritime: The Lion Heart Armour by a quest in Venice (Treasure R7), Alexandra’ Sword by a quest in Amsterdam (Archae R9) or the Golden Armour (Treasure map R4 in Alexandria, with prelude), the spear in Sofala is a good and cheap weapon too. I can buy equipments too of course.

Now I can start fighting. I can join a maritime fleet in Genoa to do circular quests. It is easy, profitable and fame rich. It’ll take you maybe 30-40 hours to reach Level 16. You may accumulate 10 million after this. Or, I can fight the wild NPCs in the sea near Lubeck in the Baltic Sea or the sea near Las Palmas/Arguin. In CB, I took me 7 hours to reach level 16 from 10 (I regret I was not well equipped not all). I did not make a penny, but it was faster. Just use Assault. If I am interested in being a shipwright, I’ll be a Jr. Officer and try the Skill Tactics. I’ll learn Shipbuilding anyway once my Repair reaches 3.

The First Gold__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____

The most obviously thing after it is that I could have total fame that is well beyond 16K. I can go straight to Calicut without the storyline and I did not miss anything. Now I’ll change to Animal Trader, learn Aminal Trading, make a whole cargo about 300 chicken feathers (remember I learned Sewing before) in Lisbon. I’ll make a long journey to Calicut and sell feathers there 50 by 50, this way maximize you exp. I’ll come back with 300 peppers and the ship Sambuk which I can not handle for now. I will sell the pepper 50 by 50 in Faro or Ceuta, because spice price there does not collapse. I estimate these two trades will earn me about 7500 merchant exp. If I start with merchant level 13, I have got level 16 now. I have the level 22/16/16 which puts me in my Sambuk, the fastest ship available now.

Just Another Start__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____

The Opening here is well closed. I am advancing to the master occupations:
I may work on being one of the first spice traders of Portugal. Train my Perfume Trading, Spice Trading skills in India, dealing with Jasmines, get promoted to Spice Trader job, bring cash back to invest on Lisbon.
Or, I may work on being a Shipwright, train my Tactics to 7 or 3+4 highly possibly.
Or, invest Saint-georges for gold. Do 2-4 times gold traffic in a day.
Or, I start pig slaughting in Faro and become a cook.
Or, become a sewing master once I accumulate enough purchase orders.
Or, work on Plundering the NPCs for precious,
And I will not give up adventure and discovery more stuff as an Archaeologist.
But all these doors are opened for me, I can do every and I do all.

Gunning VS Melee

Gunning and melee have big difference:

Level-up efficiency

To eliminate an NPC fleet, Gunning normally gives you more exp than melee. To sink all enemy ships gives you more exp than just to sink the enemy admiral. But not matter how many ships you sink, the fame is not much changed.
On the other side, to capture enemy ships does not give you exp. no matter how many enemy ships you capture, you get the same exp at the end of the battle. but to capture enemy ships yields more fame than to sink them.
So if you do gunning, you get exp faster; if you do melee, you get fame faster. that's the general rule.

In term of time saving, you can take down the enemy admiral with one critical shot. or if you have a five man fleet, you can take down the enemy admiral with one combo shot. so gunning is the fastest way too. however, if you play solo, very likely it will take a while to take down the enemy admiral because their repairing is powerful. but if you assault the enemy with melee, you'll kill all his sailor on time unless it retreats succuessfuly.

PvP power in the Grand Battles

Melee is not very useful in the Grand Battles, because human players retreat from a disadvantaged melee combat quickly. plus, considering the enemy mates' powerful surgery skill. It is rare to kill a prepared human opponent by melee.

Piracy

Piracy is all about boarding and melee. If the pirate attacks a fleet and sink them, he will get nothing. The merchants do not bring arms and normally have a small crew. So rarely a pirate loses a melee combat. But with the introduction of boarding combat in the newer version of UWO, there's a further complication for the pirates. If a pirate is unfortunately looting a merchant fleet with some skilled fighters, he could be killed by the team with no mercy (trapped and then stabbed....)

Productivity

The precious items from NPC are mostly acquired by melee assaults. If you are gunning the NPC, you have must smaller possibility to get useful items. So melee is the only productive way of maritime exercises. Notably, the items are very worthy. The most valuable stuff are all from NPC plunder and Alchemy production.

Upkeep

Guns don't wear well. You may ware down tens of guns in a day which cost a fortune. Melee need armours and weapons as well, but these wear much better. With plundering skill, a melee fighter could stay in the sea forever until the food is eaten up, since he is able to get ration from the enemy ship. And after a day of melee fighting you will realize that you have accumulated a lot of money on you.
Melee consumes more food. In the early game, you may find food a tremendous expense.

Equipments' Aquisition

Equipments:

Having the right equipments makes your work much easier. For example, if your Assault Skill is at level 3 and your ship’s attack/defense is around 60, you can kill 10-12 sailors of an easy NPC opponent’s. If you are equipped with a good sword like the Alexandra’s Sword and a good armour like the Lionheart, you will be able to kill about 20 sailors for a time and thus reduce the NPC’s change to do surgery. So you may save half or your time to achieve the same maritime goal with better equipment. It is similar for Merchants and Adventurers.

There are hundreds of equipments. If you want to learn more, you should try Google Translate on the Japanese UWO wiki, whose URL is: http://gvo.gamedb.info/wiki/.
For example, for hand equipment, you can visit this page: http://gvo.gamedb.info/wiki/?EquipmentItem/Hand1
It explains you the way of obtaining. The translation is somehow a suffering, but it is very complete.

This article is to bring you to the some of the easier and useful ones that you can get in the early game. I am not very sure of the English names, since I did not discover them all in CB or I just do not remember. So I apologize if the language is off. Hope you are still helped.

Complete Guide on Sails Crests

Complete Guide on Ship Cannons

Introduction

Cannons are the most sought after item for soldiers and pirates alike.
A good set of cannons will tear through enemies and players alike, and a master Cannonsmith is a profession every guild needs.
However crafting Cannons is a labour intensive job. Most of the high-end Cannons require a lot of raw material, which can only be obtained from a handful of Ports.
These Ports, (Hamburg and Barcelona become well known as Cannon exporting Ports, and players from all over the world travel to these Ports to purchase freshly made Cannons from players.
This guide will provide a complete list of all possible player-made Cannons in the game, arranged by the Recipe books in which they come under.
The location of the Recipe books and methods of obtaining them are also listed, as well as the basic stats of all the Cannons.

-Required Skills
Mineral Trading (mineral trader)
Industrial Goods Trading (mineral trader)
Firearms Trading (arms trader)
Weapon Trading (arms trader)
Casting (mineral trading, arms trader)

Types of Cannon Ammunition
There are 6 types of Cannon Ammunition, each has a different effect. They are:

Standard Shell
Dualshot Shell
Grapeshot Shell
Chainshot Shell
Flameshot Shell
Smokescreen Shell

Standard Shell[
No special effects

Dualshot Shell
Does extra damage to ship equipment

Grapeshot Shell
Targets ship crew. Critical hits drain enemy vigour

Chainshot Shell
Damages ship equipment

Flameshot Shell
Causes fire

Smokescreen Shell
Reduces enemy accuracy

Notes on the Raw Materials for Cannon Crafting
Cannons are usually crafted by combining 2 or 3 different raw materials
The 1st ingredient is either Cannons or Ammunition
The 2nd ingredient is either Ammunition or Bronze
The 3rd ingredient is either Iron or Steel, or in the case of Bow and Stern Cannons, Lumber

The following paragraph detals where each of the ingredients can be obtained.

Cannons
Purchased from London, Seville, Barcelona (require investment)
Crafted from 4 x Coal + 4 x Iron using the Firearms Production Technique Book [casting level 11] (Barcelona, Ceuta, 20,000D)

Ammunition
Purchase from Lisbon, Barcelona
Crafted from 2 x Coal + 2 x Iron using the Firearms Production Technique Book [casting level 5] (Barcelona, Ceuta, 20,000D).

Bronze
Purchased from London, Plymouth
Crafted from Copper Ore + Tin Ore [casting level 7] using the Book of Alloy Smelting (Dublin, reward after 300,000D in investment)

Iron
Purchased from London (require investment), Dublin (require investment), Amsterdam
Crafted from Iron Ore [casting level 5] using the Book of Refining Metal (Lubeck, 120,000D)

Steel
Purchased from Barcelona, Beirute, Jaffa
Crafted from Iron Ore + Graphite [casting level 6] from the Book of Refining Metal (Lubeck, 120,000D)

Lumber
Purchased from Oslo, Helsinki

Notes on Ports for Crafting Ship Cannons
Because of the restrictions on the materials required for crafting Ship Cannons, there are only two viable Ports that is suited for crafting Cannons. They are Barcelona and Hamburg.

Barcelona
Barcelona is the ideal location for crafting Cannons because the Port exports Cannons, Ammunition and Steel. Only Spanish players will have the option to purchase Cannons from Barcelona, therefore making Barcelona a Cannon Port exclusively to Spanish players.
Another advantage of Barcelona is that it sells the rare item of Steel, which is needed to craft high end Cannons.
For the recipes that require Iron instead of Steel, Barcelona is a short trip away from Algiers, that stock Iron Ore that can turn into Iron with the Book of Refining Metal.
The disadvantage of Barcelona is that you can't craft Ship Cannons that require Bronze there.

Hamburg
For Cannonsmiths of other nations, Hamburg is the next best Port. However, crafting Cannons in Hamburg takes longer than in Barcelona, because most of the raw materials need to be crafted first.
Cannons and Ammunitions can be crafted from Coal and Iron with the [COLOR="purple"]Firearms Production Technique Book[/COLOR.] (Barcelona, Ceuta, 20,000D)
Coal is available in Hamburg.
Iron can be made from the Iron Ore in Hamburg with the Book of Metal Refining (Lubeck, 12,000D).
Finally Bronze can be smelted by combining Copper Ore with Tin Ore in Hamburg using the Book of Alloy Smelting (Dublin, reward after 300,000D in investment)/
Whilst most of the items for crafting Ship Cannons are available in Hamburg, it does not have Steel. It takes too long to craft Steel from around Hamburg, therefore its recommended to make Ship Cannons that use Iron instead.

Notes of Crafting Cannons
Unlike crafting other materials, when there is a 'big success' you don't receive an extra Ship Cannon.
Each time you can only produce 1 Ship Cannon from the materials.
However, when you do get a 'big success' you will receive additional stats to your crafted Ship Cannon.
A 'big success' cannon will have the following additional properties:

Durability --- +10
Penetration --- x1.04 ~ 1.10
Range --- +1
Reload Time --- +1

Notes on Ship Cannons that sell

In late game, the most preferred Ship Cannons are 14-Gate Carronades. These Cannons do the most damage.
Other popular choices are [B14-Gate Perrier[/B] for increased range and 14-Gate Haiperie.
A cheap alternative is either the 14-Gate Demi-Cannon or 16-Gate Demi-Cannon
[B14-Gate Perrier[/B], 14-Gate Carronades and 16-Gate Demi-Cannon are made from Strengthening of Regular Cannons (all six Capitals, 800,000D after investment) book, and 14-Gate Demi-Cannon and 14-Gate Haiperie are made from the Book of Large Cannon Casting (all six Capitals, 200,000D after investment).

For melee players, Grapeshot and Chain Cannons are preferred because Grapeshot can kill enemy crew, and Chain Cannons rip through enemy sails. The preferred Grapeshot Cannon is 16-Gate Speed Cannon and the preferred Chainshot Cannon is the 16-Gate Angel.
Both of these Ship Cannons are crafted from the Strengthening of Special Cannon recipe book (Calicut, 200,000D after investment).

Finally, some players like to use Flameshot Cannons, because at high level, they can guarantee burning, causing massive damage overtime against enemies.
The Flameshot Cannon of choice is the 16-Gate Draconis or 16-Gate Anne Fehr, both are crafted using the Strengthening of Special Cannon recipe book (Calicut, 200,000D after investment).

Complete Guide on Sail Paint

Complete Guide on Sails and Sail Making

Introduction

In late game, Sails are probably the number 1 sought after commodity by players.
A fast set of Sails can save days and even weeks on long journeys, and also make it much easier to escape from player Pirates and NPC Pirates.
A good set of sails can easily fetch between 14 million and 24 million Ducats.
If you equip a ship with 5 sail rigs, that alone can cost up to 100 million!

Require Skills
Industrial Goods Trading (mineral trader)
Fabric Trading (yarn trader)
Sewing (accountant, yarn trader)

Notes of the Materials for Making Sails

Sails require a large quanity of Hemp and Lumber. Simple Sails can be made from Hemp and Lumber alone, but more complex Sails require the addition of Iron.
Hemp can be purchased from the ports of Amsterdam and Algiers , and Lumber is widely available in Northern Europe and West Africa.
Iron can be bought from Amsterdam, London (require investment) and Dublin (require investment), or alternatively refined from Iron Ore available in Algiers and Hamburgusing the Book of Metal Refining (Lubeck, 12,000D after investment).

Notes of Ports for Making Sails

Because Sails require a lot of Industrial Goods, the most common place to make Sails in the port of Oslo.
Usually players stock up on Hemp from Amsterdam and sail to Oslo, where they can combine the Hemp with Lumber to make Sails.
For more complex Sails requiring the addition of Iron, players can import large quantities of Lumber from the North Sea and sail to Amsterdam, where they can purchase large quantities of Hemp.
For players who wish to stay close the Mediterranean, Algiers is a viable option. Players needs to first stock up on large quantities of Lumber from either Northern Europe or West Africa before setting out for Algiers. Algiers has both Iron Ore to make Iron and Hemp which is required to combine with Lumber to make Sails.

Notes on Making Sails

The best Sails are made when there is a 'big success'. Otherwise, usually the crafted sails are regular Sails. Some of the regular Sails can be combined to produce Full Rig Sails using the Book of Full Rig Sails (all six Capital cities, 100,000D after investment),
However Full Rig Sails require level 14 in Sewing.
There is also a small chance to craft Elite Sails. Elite Sails are regular sails with stat boosts. Usually these sails will have additional speed and maximum durability.
If your fabric trading skill is above 5, there is the option of crafting Superior Full Rig Sails, which provide stat boosts, such as speed, and durablity to regular Full Rig Sails. These Sails can sometimes sell for more than 20 million to players.

Notes on Sails that Sell
In late game, the best sails are Elite versions of Superior Full Rig Sails. The recipe for Superior Full Rig Sails is obtained through investing in settlement ports in the Latin America. Because of the difficulty in obtaining the recipe book, players can often make regular Full Rig Sails, using either the Book of Full Rig Sails (all six Capital cities, 100,000D after investment) or the Book of Composite Auxiliary Sails (all six Capital cities, 50,000D after investment).
Players prefer Full Rig Sails because they add significant speed boosts to both vertical and horizontal sailing.
Usually, sail makers would craft their sails in North Europe and sell the sails in the economic Hub of Lisbon/Seville, through either their own Bazaar or through the Company Shop.

Complete Guide on Maps

Introduction

For those Adventure players, Maps are an essential part of the gameplay. Maps offer the fastest way to level up the important Adventure skills such as Search and Lockpicking, and the higher these skills are, the better items you will able to obtain through questing and digging.

What are maps?

Maps are items in your inventory that allow you to make various Discoveries or to locate treasures on the open sea, in Landing areas or inside buildings in towns around the world.
It should not be confused with Piece of Treasure Map which relate to ship salvaging

How do I get Maps

Maps can be mostly commonly obtained from reading books inside Archives in major cities around the world.
The town that have Archives are listed below

London
Amsterdam
Lisbon
Seville
Marseille
Venice
Tunis
Naples
Genoa
Athens
Alexandria
Istanbul
Calicut
Lima
Settlement town in East Asia and South America

Some Maps are only obtainable through plundering NPC pirates or given as quest reward

What skills do I need to obtain Maps

The skills you need are
1) The language used by the town where the Archive is located when you browse through the book.
For example you will need Portuguese if you are browsing through the Archives in Lisbon
2) The appropriate level in Geology, Archaeology, Theology, Biology, Art or Treasure Appraisal that is required for the Map to 'pop'.
For example an R8 (Rank 8) Art Map will require level 8 in Art to obtain.

If you don't meet the language or the Adventure Discipline Skill requirements, as long as you are in a fleet with a person that does, you will also be able to obtain the Map.
For example, if you fleet up with a person who has Italian and level 8 in Art, you can also obtain a R8 Art Map in Venice when browsing through the Archives.

How many different categories of Maps are there

There are six different categories of Maps, each corresponding to one of the six major Adventure Disciplines.
They are:
Geology
Archaeology
Theology
Biology
Art
Treasure Appraisal

How many types of Maps are there

There are 2 types of Maps
The first type is a Discovery Map
The second type is a Treasure Chest Map

What's the difference between the two types of Maps

The Discovery Map as the name suggests, has a Discovery attached to them. When you open up the map, either by searching or using recognition, you will receive a Discovery Card, which would then appear in your list of Discoveries.
These Discoveries can then be reported to Nobles for money and fame.

The second type of Maps are Treasure Chest Maps. Unlike the Discovery Maps, they do not have Discoveries attached to them. Instead, when you open them through Search or Recognition, you will receive various Trade Items, along with a substantial amount of cash.

Because the Treasure Chest Maps do not have a Discovery attached to them, you would not get Skill Proficiency in your Adventure Disciplines. You will however still receive Adventure Experience, and Skill Proficiency in your Search and Lockpicking skills.

Why bother with Maps

There are three reasons why you should bother with Maps
1) They grant you Discoveries, which can then be reported to for money and fame. In addition, the more Discoveries you make, the higher your Nobility Rank. If you want to become an Elite Adventurer, and discover every Discovery, then you need to browse for the Discovery Maps

2) Each Discovery Map yields significant amounts of Adventure Experience and Fame. Because a single person can hold a full inventory of the same map, it is also the most efficient way to level up your Adventure Level and to fast track your Adventure Fame.

3) The same reason as above, Maps also yield significant increases in Skill Proficiency, and like your Adventure level, Maps are the quickest way to level up your Adventure Discipline skills of Geology, Archaeology, Theology, Biology, Art or Treasure Appraisal, as well as Search and Lockpicking skills.

What are Map Fleets

Map Fleets are fleets formed by players (usually five player) whose main activity is opening a specific Map.
Map Fleets are like quest fleets, except they open Discovery Maps instead of running quests.

Why form Map Fleets

Like quest fleets, forming a five player fleet with other Adventurers to open Maps would allow each player in the fleet to gain 3 x the amount of Skill Proficiency in passive Adventure skills such as Geology, Archaeology, Theology, Biology, Art, Treasure Appraisal and Lockpicking as compared to opening Maps by oneself.
(more details below)

What are the conditions of obtaining multiple copies of the same Map

To hold multiple copies of the same Map in your inventory, you need at least one other player. Hence, forming Map Fleets is both one of necessity and efficacy.

In order to obtain a specific Map you must first meet the skill requirements, such as language skill and Adventure Discipline skill. These skills can be shared, if at least one member of the fleet meets the skill requirements. Another reason for fleeting up,

Secondly, you must not have the Map in your inventory.

Thirdly, you must have either reported the Discovery attached to that Map to a Noble or never made the Discovery in the first place.

If all three conditions above are not met, your will not be able to obtain the desired Map no matter how many times you browse the Archives.

What are the mechanics of obtaining multiple copies of the same Map

The mechanics are rather simplistic.
First, each time you browse through an Archive, there is a chance that you will obtain a Map ('popping' a Map).
Most of the times, you are browsing for one specific Map, therefore when you 'pop' a Map that is not the Map you are looking for, keep it in your inventory. Remember that if a specific Map is already in your inventory, you cannot obtain it again from browsing the Archives
Secondly, the important part, when the desired Map does 'pop', trade it to your friend/fleet member. This effectively means your inventory is free of the desired Map and you can obtain it again through browsing the Archives.
Thirdly keep browsing, and you'll soon 'pop' another one of the desired Maps. Like in step 2, trade it to your friend/fleet member. Now your friend is holding multiple copies of the same Map.
When you become mentally tired and cannot browse the Archives anymore, simply ask your friend/fleet member to transfer all copies of the desired Map back to you.
Now you have multiple copies of the same Map.

What are the steps of obtaining Maps in a Map Fleet

1) Browse the Archives for the desired Map
2) Pass the desired Map to player B, keep browsing
3) Repeat step 2 until mentally tired
4) Player B passes all the copies of the desire Map back to player A
5) Player B repeats the same process as player A, except they pass the desire Map to player A
6) At the end, both player A and player B should have multiple copies of the desired Map
7) If you would like more maps, simply boomerang to the closest port (sail to the closest port, leave and sail back) to browse the Archives again. Just make sure that one player is holding all the desired Map before the other player browses the Archives.

What are the conditions of opening multiple copies of same Map

In order to open the same Discovery Map multiple times. you must report the Discovery to a Noble before you go back to open the Map again. If you don't report the Discovery, even if you Search in the same spot with the Map in your inventory you would be able to find anything.

What are the mechanics of opening multiple copies of the same Map

As mentioned, you cannot open the Map again, if the discovery attached to the Map is not reported to a Noble first.
However, even if you have not reported, you can still leech Skill Proficiency from fleet members when they open a Map next to you.
If you have already reported the Discovery or have not yet made the Discovery from the Map, and a fleet member opens the Map in your vicinity and you happen to have a copy of the same Map in your inventory, you will make the Discovery and consume the copy of the Map

What are the steps of opening Maps in a Map Fleet

Method A

(the step by step procedure below is used for opening Maps in Landing area, where the closest Noble is located in a town and therefore need to leave the Landing area and sail there)

1) You need to stock up on as many of the same Discovery Map in your inventory as possible.
2) Sail to your destination
3) Player A opens the Map by him/herself
4) Player B goes in to open the Map. Player A leeches skill proficiency
5) Player C goes in to open the Map. Player A and B leeches skill proficiency
6) Player D goes in to open the Map. Player A, B, and C leeches skill proficiency
7) Player E goes in to open the Map. Player A, B, C, and D, leech skill proficiency
8) Player A, B, C, D, and E go and report their discovery to the nearest Noble
9) Next round of Map opening begins. Player E opens first, and the order is reversed. E>D>C>B>A
10) Repeat

Method B

(the step by step procedure is used for opening Maps inside buildings in Towns, where the closest Noble is located within the same town)

1) You need to stock up on as many of the same Discovery Map in your inventory as possible.
2) Sail to your destination
3) Transfer all the Maps to one person
4) Divide the total Maps by the number of people in the fleet, and each player would take in turns opening that amount.
5) Player A opens Map. Player B, C, D, and E leech Skill Proficiency
6) Player A reports Discovery to a Noble. Other players remain inside the building.
7) Player A returns and opens another Map, then reports back to the Noble in town. He/She continues until he/she reached the set amount.
8) Player A, transfers all the Maps to Player B.
9) Player B repeats the steps of Player A. Player A, C, D, and E. Leech Skill proficiency.
10) The process repeats as player C, D, E all take turns to open Maps.

This guide may sound confusing, but once you do a run inside the game, everything would make much more sense.

Comprehensive crafting guide [storage]

Introduction

Why Storage?
Storage is probably one of the most underrated skills in the game. I say that because most people see Storage as a skill that turns various Fish caught on the sea into Fish Meat. But many people probably wont know that Storage has also two very important Passive Components to it in addition to its Active Component of preserving Fish and Food.

1) High levels of Storage reduces the rate in which your equipment wears down when sailing
2) When you are being plundered by Pirates, the amount of money and Trade Goods plundered by your opponent depends on your level of Storage.

Both of these Passive boosts makes it worthwhile to level up your Storage, especially in late game.
There are two ways to level up Storage, either by using ingredients caught when fishing, or by using ingredients gathered from Landing Areas using either the skill of Collection or Procurement.

Recommended Birth Place
Any nation

Chapter of the Sea
This method is used for levelling up Storage by combining with Fishing.
All the processes require only one recipe book, and therefore taking up less inventory space.

-Required Recipe Book
Book of Fish Preservation (London, Amsterdam, Seville, Lisbon, Marseilles, Venice 5000D

-Required Skills
Storage (fisherman)
Fishing (fisherman)

Level 1 (Sardine >>> Fish Meat or Herring >>> Fish Meat)
If you are in Southern Europe, you can fish for Sardines and make Fish Meat. If you are in Northern Europe, you can fish for Herring

Level 2 (Horse Mackerel >>> Fish Meat)
You can stay in Northern Europe and fish for Sardines and Herring or you can go to the Mediterranean and make Fish Meat from Horse Mackerels

Level 3 (Tara >>> Fish Meat)
Tara requires level 4 Fishing, can are common the North Sea. The best place is south of [/COLOR="green"]Oslo[/COLOR] and north of Copenhagen.

Level 4 (Salmon >>> Fish Meat)
In the same place where you fished for Tara, you can also fish for Salmon. Salmon requires level 5 fishing, and it can be turned into Fish Meat to level up your Storage skill.

Level 5 - 8 (Bonito >>> Fish Meat or Sawara >>> Fish Meat)
Bonito can be found between Madeira and Cape Verde. Alternatively you can travel to the Arabian Sea, outside Aden to fish to Sawara. Both fish can be preserved using Storage.

Level 8-10 (Tuna >>> Fish Meat)
Tuna requires level 8 in fishing, there two common spots for Tuna fishing. the first one is below Syracuse or just outside. The other spot is just south of Madeira. Tuna can be processed into Fish Meat.

Level 10+
See Late Game

Chapter of the Land
This alternative method can also be used to level up Storage. Instead of using various Fish as the raw materials, this method relies upon items gathered from Landing areas using either Procurement, or Collection.
The disadvantage is that some of the raw materials require high levels in Procurement or Collection. However, this disadvantage can be compensated if your farm produced these goods such as Nuts and Bark.

-Required Recipe Books
Book of Catering for Travellers (Benghazi, Salonika reward after 200,000D in investment)

-Requires Skills
Procurement (fisherman, biologist)
Collection (fisherman, biologist)
Storage (fisherman)

Notes on Procurement and Collection
Each time you activate the Procurement or Collection skill. It costs 5 vigour per action. The higher your level of Procurement and Collection, the more goods you will be able to collect with one action.
The best Landing areas to use Procurement and Collection is Landing areas outside towns, since you can go back into the Bar to replenish your vigour when it runs out.
The best spots in Landing areas to Procure or Collect items is on the Landmark areas, such as Stacked Boulder or Large Tree.

Level 1 (3 x Nuts >>> Dried Strawberries)
Nuts can obtained through Procurement in many European landing areas. I prefer the Landing area outside Nantes, because you can go into the bar to refill your Vigour when it runs out through Procurement.

Level 2 (3x Nuts >>> Prunes or Egg >>> Chicken/Duck)
You can stay in the location above and turn Nuts into Prunes or you can go to a town that sells Eggs such as Faro and produce Chicken/Duck from Eggs.
Prunes are a Specialty product from the south of France.

Level 3 (3 x Nuts >>> Dried Fig)
Using the same methods as above, turn Nuts procured from Landing area into Dried Figs. Dried Figs are a Specialty product from the Near East and can be sold for high prices in Norther Europe.

Level 4 (3 x Nuts >>> Dried Apples or 3 x Nuts >>> Dried Apricots)
Both Dried Apples and Dried Apricots use the same amount of Nuts. The different is that Dried Apples is a Speciality product of Northern France. So if you are in the Mediterranean, you are better off to make Dried Apples instead of Dried Apricots.

Level 5 - 7 (5 x Nuts >>> Dried Mango)
Since most the recipes in the Book of Catering for Travelers use Nuts as the main ingredient, you can stay in one Landing area and procure Nuts to produce various items.

Level 7 (Nuts >>> Lime Juice)
This recipe only requires a single Nut, but the item produces is not a trade good but a consumable. Lime Juice is used to cure Scurvy when sailing on the sea.

Level 8 (5 x Strange Fruit >>> Red Pepper)
You must be sick of procuring Nuts by now. It's time to move to a new area and start procuring a different. For the next 3 levels, you need to Procure Strange Fruits which is native to the Americas. The best place is outside the landing area outside the town of Merida in the Caribbean.
Strange Fruits require level 7 in Procurement to obtain, and this recipe combine 5 Strange Fruits to make Red Pepper.

Level 9 (6 x Strange Fruit >>> Green Chilli)
In the same method as above, combine 6 Strange Fruits to make Green Chilli.

Level 10 (5 x Strange Fruit >>> Cashew Nuts)
In the same method as above, combine 5 Strange Fruits to make Cashew Nuts.

Book of Extracting Dye [optional] ([COLOR=”green”]Merida
, reward after 800,000D in investment)
Book of Catering for Travellers (Benghazi, Salonika reward after 200,000D in investment)

-Required Skills
Storage (fisherman)
Fishing [optional] (fisherman)
Procurement [optional] (fisherman)
Collection [optional] (fisherman)

Congratulations on reaching level 10 in Storage. This probably one of the hardest crafting skills to level up. At level 10, your equipments should hardly drop in durability when sailing, and when you get robbed by Pirates, your Storage level should prevent significant losses.
Level 10 is adequate enough, there is no real need to get Storage to 15, but for those who wish to do so, here is how.

Path A

Level 10 - 14 (Tuna >>> Fish Meat)
If you chose the path of levelling up Storage through Fishing, then your best way of levelling Storage above 10 is to process Tuna. There is no effective recipes from level 8 until level 14 where you can process Marlin and Mako for Fish Meat.

Level 14 - 15 (Marlin >>> Fish Meat; Mako >>> Fish Meat)
Marlin and Mako require level 14 in Fishing can be both fished near the Port of Madeira
It's best if you equip yourself with some booster items to both Storage and Fishing so that you can process Marlin and Mako when your Storage level is under 14. This way your Storage level will level up much faster.

Path B

Level 11 (5 Strange Fruit >>> Allspice or 5 x Bark >>> Logwood)
There are more options for levelling up storage when you are using items from the land.
Procure Strange Fruits outside the town of Merida and combine 5 Strange Fruits to produce Allspice.
Alternatively you can use the Collection skill to collect Bark from the same Landing area in the Caribbean and produce Logwood using the Book of Extracting Dye.
Barks require level 8 in collection.

Level 12 (5 x Bark >>> Cinchona Bark)
Collect Barks and using the Book of Catering for Travellers to make Cinchona Bark from 5 Barks

Level 13 - 15 (5 x Bark >>> Cinchona Bark; 5 x Large Leaves >>> Cochineal)
Strangely, Large Leaves only require level 5 in Collection. When you collect 5 Large Leaves turn them into Cochineal with the Book of Extracting Dye and when you collect 5 Barks turn them Cinchona Bark with the Book of Catering for Travellers.

Level 15
WOOHOO!! Your Storage level is maxed. Now you have no fear of travelling on the seas in your best equipment and carrying large amounts of Ducats around. Even when you are robbed, your level 15 Storage would prevent you from incurring any significant losses.

Comprehensive crafting guide [cooking]

Introduction

Cooking has always been on of my favourite crafting skills in UWO. On my old server i made hundreds of millions selling items such as Seafood Pizza and Garlic Chicken and the best thing about cooking is that there will always be a demand, regardless of where the server is at. Each guild requires a good cook or two, and if you are interested in pursuing this path here is a simple guide.

Recommended birth place
-Lisbon
-Amsterdam

Portuguese and Dutch players will have the easiest times starting out as chefs due to fact that their ports nearby stock up on all the items required for cooking, and being Portuguese or Dutch would allow them to buy extra ingredients at lower price.

With the introduction of the animal trader job, the food merchant is very much made redundant. The animal trader favours all the essential skills required for cooking, so when you are ready, change your job into an Animal Trader

Portuguese Cook

Level 4 (Pig >>> Pork >>> Bacon
Using the Livestock secrets - chapter of Pig book, buy Pigs from Faro, butcher into Pork, turn Pork into Bacon, sell at the market.

Level 5 (Pig >>> Pork >>> Ham)
Using the Livestock secrets - chapter of Pig book, buy Pigs from Faro, butcher into Pork, turn Pork into Ham, sell at the market.

Level 5 - 7 (Pig >>> Pork >>> Ham)
Butcher Pigs at Faro, turn Pork into Ham, sell at the market.

Level 7 - 10 (Pig >>> Pork >>> Ham; Sheep >>> Lamb; Lamb + Butter + Salt >>> Roast Lamb)

Path A
Butcher Pigs at Faro into Ham until level 10. (takes roughly a day or two)

Path B
Sail to Genoa to purchase the Introduction to Meat recipe book, sail to Amsterdam for the Livestock secrets - chapter of Sheep book, and make Roast Lamb (more details in the Dutch Cook section)

Level 10 (Wheat >>> Flour; Flour + Fish + Cheese >>> Seafood Pizza)
CONGRATULATIONS, you have made an important milestone, now its time to make some serious money. Either, sail to Fagumasta in the Middle East, opposite Beirut, and invest 1 million Ducats for the Eastern Mediterranean Dishes or if you have a friend from Venice, kindly ask that player to invest 1 million in Venice for the book.

All the ingredients for Seafood Pizza can be purchased at Porto, therefore making Portrugese players the most fearsome chefs in game.
Buy, Wheat, Fish and Cheese at Porto, turn the Wheat into Flour and combine all three ingredients for 1 - 3 Pizzas.
Each Pizza in early game can sell up to 5000D

Level 10 - 15
See late game for more details.

Path A
Buy Sheep at Den Helder, turn 1/3 of the Goat into Milk, combine Milk and Salt to make Butter, Butcher the remaining Sheep into Lamb, and combine with Butter and more Salt to make Roast Lamb.
This option requires high levels in Seasoning trading to purchase enough Salt and is rather time consuming, but saves the trouble of leaving Den Helder

Path B
But Goat, butcher the Goat into Lamb, buy Salt, travel to London, and buy Butter, combine all three ingredients to make Roast Lamb . This option will allow you to trade between Den Helder and London and perhaps make even more profits.

The Roast Lamb can be sold to players or back to the Item Shop in bundles of 200.

This type of cook combines fishing skill and cooking skill to specialize food dishes prepared using the fish caught at sea. The skill requirements and recipe requirements are much more extensive than other methods, but it does offer a different playing style.

It is essential to first change your job into a Chef from a job changing quest in Stockholm, requirements are level 5 cooking, 3000 trade fame. The quest is relatively easy to complete, simply hand in 200 Wine Steamed Cod, which can be purchased from the Clerk in Amsterdam.

If you do not have enough fame, ask a friend to help you out.

Level 1 - 5
Use the methods described in both the Portuguese and Dutch section above to reach level 5.

Level 5 - 7 (Wine + Halibut >>> Wine Steamed Halibut or Salt + Lumber + Herring >>> Smoked Herring; Wine + Cod >>> Wine steamed Cod)

Path A.
Camp on the sea outside Bordeaux, using the recipe Seafaring food from Lisbon, purchase Winefrom Bordeaux, catch Halibut outside of Bordeaux and make Wine Steamed Halibut. If you catch other fish use storage to make Fish

Path B.
Stock up on Wine from either Seville, Porto or Bordeaux. Travel to Bergen, and camp on the sea outside Bergen, using the Seafood of the North recipe from London, purchase Salt and Lumber from Bergen, and if you catch Herring, make Smoked Herring with Salt and Lumber. If you catch Cod, make Wine steamed Cod. Use storage to turn all other fish into Fish

Path A, is closer to Wine exporting ports, but you will get more fishing proficiency and cooking proficiency if you take Path B.

Level 7 - 10 (Salt + Lumber + Herring >>> Smoked Herring; Smoked Herring + Butter >>> Sautéed Smoke Herring)
Stock up on Butter from either London. Travel to Bergen, and camp on the sea outside Bergen, using the Seafood of the North recipe from London, purchase Salt and Lumber from Bergen, and if you catch Herring, make Smoked Herring with Salt and Lumber. The combine Smoked Herringwith Butter to make Sautéed Smoked Herring.

Level 10 (2 x Olive >>> Olive Oil, Olive oil + Salt + Tuna >>> Tuna Steak)
This is what you are waiting for. That dish costs under 500D to make and sells it 15k each. The dish recovers 80 vigour to all fleet and reduces fatigue by 48. It's the ideal food for soldiers, and you will never be short of a market.

Travel to Syracuse, buy Olives and Salt. Use the Seasoning Recipe book to turn Olives into Olive Oil. The recipe requires Handicraft at level 2, an easy way to get to level 2, is to purchase the Book of Pharmaceutical Preparations at Syracuse, travel to Naples, go outside, use either Search, Collection, or Procurement skill to gather Grass, use the Grass to make Basic Medicine, then returning to Syracuse when you reach level 2 in Handicraft.

Once you have a ship cargo of 50% Olive Oil and 50% Salt, sail to a small island just south east of Syracuse. Use the fishing skill to fish for Tuna (you need level 8 in Fishing) and make Tuna Steak with Olive Oil and Tuna.
Tuna can be fished just outside Syracuse or in the island directly north of Tripoli

This option is not recommended for starting out as a cook and is only really viable when you change into a Chef in Stockholm and have equipped yourself with booster items that add +1 to Fishing and Cooking, as well as a specialist cooking Aide.

Late Game

-Required Recipe Books
Caribbean Secret Dishes (San Diego, reward after 300,000D in investment)
Chef's Meat (Stockholm, reward after 600,000D in investment)
Livestock secrets - Birds Chapter (Calvi) 8000D

-Required SkillsFood trade (livestock trader, food trader)
Livestock trade (livestock trader, food trader)
Spice trade [optional] (spice trader)
Alcohol trading (accountant)
Cooking (livestock trader, food trader)
Handicraft (medicine trader)
Procurement [optional] (fisherman, chef)

Level 10 - 12 (Wheat >>> Flour; Flour + Fish + Cheese, + Seafood Pizza, Gratin with Cheese

If you decide to specialize in Cooking in late game, it is advisable to first establish a Private Farm, level up your purchasing skills, especially Food trade, Alcohol Trade and Spice trade, as well as have level 5 in Handicraft to make Wine and Brandy.

In addition you want to have an Aide that adds +1 to cooking and food related Trade skills such as Livestock Trading, Food trading, Spice Trading or Alcohol Trading.
You also want to equip yourself with a +1 Cooking Item the Blue Butterfly Ribbon, which someone in the Guild would mostly be able to craft.

Use the level 10 recipes to level up to level 12, or use the booster items and Aide to get your cooking to level 12. Level 12 is a threshold, as you can make Wine Braised Lamb and Nuts served with Fish.

Level 12 - 14 (3 x Fish + Nut >>> Nuts served with Fish; Wine + Lamb + Rosemary >>> Wine Braised Lamb)

Path A
Use the Caribbean Secret Dishes to make Nuts served with Fish. Nuts can be obtained either through either Procurement in grassland Landing areas in Europe or from Private farms.
The recipe book is a reward from the Caribbean’s by investing 300,000D in San Diego. Fish can be purchased in large quantities in most European Ports.

Path B
The Chef's Meat recipe is acquired by investing 600,000 in Stockholm. Wine and Lamb can be purchased from Bordeaux and Nantes area, Rosemary can only be purchased from Valencia.
This method involves loading 80% of ships cargo with rosemary from Valencia, and sailing to Bordeaux and Nantes in the Bay of Biscay. Combining Wine and Lamb with Rosemary to produce Wine Braised Lamb

Level 14 - 15 (Chicken Meat + Garlic + Brandy >>> Roasted Garlic Chicken)
Using the Chef's Meat acquired from Stockholm, combine Chicken Meat produced either by butchering Chickens in Lisbon or from Faro. Garlic can be purchased from Malaga, and Spice Trading skill can come in handy here. Brandy can either be bought from Lisbon, or crafted from Wine using Handicraft skill (more on wine making in my Handicraft guide). Combine the three ingredients to make Roasted Garlic Chicken

Level 15
WOOHOO, you have finally reached the pinnacle of the culinary world. What a long journey. Now you can make your fame and fortune as the number 1 Chef in the world of UWO. With your skill mastered, your apprentice will gain +1 to their cooking when they are near you, and will earn the respect and notoriety amongst all soldiers whose livelihood on the sea depends on your culinary genius.

But wait, there is still one more challenge left. To make the infamous level 16 Pupuran Tree. The most impressive dish in the game.
