Leveling up Archeology

Introduction

Archeology like Biology boasts the most amount of discoveries in the game world of UWO. Unlike Biology, Archeology quests are more fun and more epic. They really do capture the essence of Adventure, as would-be explorers traverse across world and into the depth of Tombs and Dungeons to recover lost relics.

Archeology players will never find themselves short of Adventure, as their journeys take them into a world of history, intrigue, and danger.

Level 1 - 2 (Read Archeology Books inside the Archives; Various level 1 Archeology Quests)

The first few levels of Archeology shouldn't be that hard to level up. The fastest way is probably to do a couple of level 1 Acheology quests around Genoa/Naples area, which involve digging up Artifacts belonging to various Roman Emperors.
Another way is to spend some Ducats flicking through Archeology Books inside the Archive of major towns. Usually each time you read a book, it will increase your skill proficiency by 1 - 3. You will also find Archeology Maps, which can be dug up for additional increases in skill proficiency.

Level 2 - 4 (Advanced School Quest)

The best way of leveling Archeology from level 2 to level 4 is to fleet up with other players and run the Advanced School pre-graduation Quests. The Quest requires level 2 in Archeology and asks players to travel to Tunis, which is only a couple of days sailing south of where the Advanced School Quests originate in Pisa.
In order to graduate from Advanced School in Adventure, you have to run that particular quest to Tunis 10 times, which gives ample time for you to level up from level 2 in Archeology to level 4.
The best thing about being in a fleet for Adventure Quests is that your skill proficiency would raise at 2 or 3 times faster than if you were soloing.
(For more details refer to my guide on Adventure Skill Proficiency bonus and fleets)

Level 4 (Athens The Existence of Sultans >>> Beirut >>> Alexandria; Alexandria Mourning Tragedy >>> Athens)

At level 4 in Archeology it is time to move to the Archeological paridise of the Middle East. The reason is that there are a lot of Archeology quests here which can level you way up to level 10 in Archeology.
There are two quests here which you run back to back. The first quest is recieved from Athens called The Existence of Sultans (reqs. R1 Search; R3 Treasure Appraisal; R1 Lockpicking).
The first quest takes you to Beirut, and from Beirut, travel to Alexandria to turn the quest in through the Barmaid.
In Alexandria, you can take a quest called Mourning Tragedy (reqs. R2 Search; R4 Archeology; 2000 Adv Fame).
The quest Mourning Tragedy will take you back to Athens, and therefore completing a single loop.
In Athens you can start the loop again by taking the quest The Existence of Sultans to Beirut.

Level 5 - 8 (Athens Masters of 7 Wonders >>> Alexandria >>> Central Nile Landing Area >>> Alexandria; Alexandria Stolen Inscriptions >>> Cairo >>> Alexandria; Alexandria Mourning Tragedy >>> Athens)

Now that you have gotten the hang of a quest loop (repeating a set of 2 quests). Its time to add a third quest to the loop.
This time instead of taking the quest The Existence of Sultans from Athens, take the quest Masters of 7 Wonders (reqs. R3 Search; R5 Acheology; R3 Lockpicking) The reason is that this quest allows you to level up your Archeology.
Masters of 7 Wonders will take you to Alexandria, and then to the Landing area in Central Nile.
After you complete the quest return to Alexandria to hand in and take the quest Stolen Inscriptions (reqs. R3 Search; R5 Archeology). The quest is only a short distance away in Cairo. When the quest is finished, return to Alexandria and take the quest Mourning Tragedy and head back to Athens.

Level 8 - 9 (Athens Pioneering Achievements >>> Salonica >>> Athens; Athens Delivering Pickles)

In order to gain access to the quest Pioneering Achievements (reqs. R6 Search; R8 Archeology; R6 Lockpicking) in Athens, you will first need to complete a prerequisite quest called End of Dreams (reqs. R5 Recognition; R7 Archeology; 9000 Adv Fame).
The prerequisite quest can be obtained from either Marseille or Genoa
Once the prerequisite quest of End of Dreams is complete, you can start on the Pioneering Achievements quest loop.
The quest Pioneering Achievements will take you to Salonica just north of Athens.
In Salonica, buy 5 Pickles. After you complete Pioneering Achievements, return to Athens, but before you can take the same quest again, you have to go and finish another quest.
The easiest in-between quest is the quest Delivering Pickles obtained from the Merchant's Guild in Athens.
Pickles of course can be conveniently bought from Salonica

Level 9+ (Marseille, Istanbul R9 Archeology Map - Map of Underground Passage >>> Landing Area west of Cairo)

Usually, you can stop leveling up Archeology at level 9. The reason being that the highest Archeology discovery (The Excailbur) requires level 15 in Archeology and it is possible to add +6 in Archeology through Skill Boost Items (for more details refer to my guide on Booster Items), therefore making level 9(+6) in Archeology sufficient.
For those players who do not wish to fill their inventory with Skill Boost Items, the quickest way to level up from level 9 to level 15 is using the R9 Archeology Map.
This map can be obtained from the Archives in either Marseille or Istanbul, and the Map is called Map of Underground Passage.
The location of where the Map can be dug up is on the west bank opposite of Cairo. (for more details on leveling up skills through Maps, refer to my guide of Treasure Maps).

Level 15

Congratulations!!!. You have become the master Archeologist of our time. Not only can you now go and discover the legendary Sword of Excalibur, you can also go and trackdown some of UWO most prized artifacts like Tutankhamun's Gold Mask and Keys of the Legendary King Solomon.
The world has become your private dig site.
